What is Cost Consultancy?
The cost consultant provides estimates and advice regarding the cost of construction works. The cost consultant's role might include: Helping determine the client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies. Benchmarking requirements against similar projects. Assessing and comparing options.
What is the role of an Employer's Agent?
The employer's agent administers the project on behalf of the client and acts as the lead consultant for the delivery of the project. The employer's agent fulfils the functions of the project manager and cost manager; they may appoint additional consultants to discharge certain roles. The role of the employer’s agent starts before the contract is awarded and continues through the construction phase to the post-completion defect rectification period.
What does a Clerk of Works do?
A clerk of works inspects the workmanship, quality and safety of work on construction sites and reports back to senior managers and clients. They conduct regular site inspections and check that building plans are being followed correctly, ensuring that work is being carried out to the correct specifications and legal, safety and environmental standards.
What is a DPS
A DPS is a procurement procedure compliant with the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. It operates with the benefits of a framework agreement, whereby Candidates confirm at the time of application that they will comply with the DPS Agreement terms and the Call-Off Contract terms published with the DPS, but permits more flexibility than a framework agreement by allowing additional Candidates to be admitted to the DPS during its lifetime.
