Timeline of Canterbury Mills Primary School, Croydon

This project is one of 5 primary schools to have been completed as part of Croydon’s Primary School Expansion programme and involved one of Croydon’s main Framework Contractor’s, Wilmot Dixon Construction (WDC).

Keegans provided a full Quantity Surveying service including cost planning, tender analysis and reporting, valuations, cost reporting.

The works involved in this project was the demolition of the existing buildings and construction of a new three storey building and associated external works with a linked dining hall for the provision of an open plan 2FE school for 420 pupils. The school consists of a teaching block with a roof terrace hard play area and plant room, 14 classrooms and 1 practical room, administration offices and associated ancillary spaces.

The site for the new Canterbury Mills Primary School is a former warehouse building and as such has been designated a “brown field” site. The development of Canterbury Mills was completed in two phases. The first phase was to construct a new temporary school on the existing MUGA pitches to the rear of the site. This was completed ready for pupils starting in September 2016. The second phase included the demolition of the existing Canterbury Mills industrial building and construction and completion of the new primary school.

Here’s a timeline of it being built in action.
