St. Georges Hospital
Keegans were appointed by MITIE Health & Hygiene to provide Contract Administration services in connection with the restaurant and catering areas that they are currently managing for St. George’s Healthcare NHS Trust.
The hospital is one of the country’s largest teaching hospitals, treating more than 500,000 patients every year. Catering fit-out specialist International Food Service Equipment Ltd (ifse) was appointed under a design and build contract to undertake £1.4 million of works in four main locations.
The initial phase comprised asbestos removal and installation of replacement coldrooms. A small restaurant to the Atkinson Morley Wing was refurbished and the kitchen amended to release part of the area back to the Trust for clinical use. A coffee shop to the St James Wing was also refurbished.
The main works comprised setting up a temporary restaurant to the Lanesborough Wing and then totally re-modelling the main restaurant and kitchen, allowing the temporary restaurant area to subsequently be stripped out and handed back to the Trust for clinical use.
