Keegans were commissioned to complete the design of a library and community facilities at Hook and Chessington. In order to accommodate all the facilities required for this prominent site, a two-storey solution was developed. The large ground floor double height foyer, into which both the main entrances arrive, and a generous balconied upper foyer, form a dramatic focal point. Called 'The Hook Centre', it comprises the following facilities:
- Library and ICT resources
- Crèche
- Music Recording studio
- Citizen’s Advice Bureau
- Community Hall
- Office space
- Other public resources
A café/coffee shop is provided between the entrance foyer and the car park. The walls are glazed to maintain visual permeability into the central atrium.
The distinctive design and finishes make The Hook Centre an easily identifiable landmark within the community.
