This busy manufacturing and distribution centre with over 20 – 30 HGVs loading and unloading throughout the day, required the replacement of tarmac and concrete roads and site drainage including effluent waste.
It was important that the plant remained fully operational throughout the duration of the works. To ensure this was achieved it was heavily phased over nine stages and at each stage careful traffic management was implemented which included single access and traffic lights.
There was a significant amount of contaminated soil that had to be monitored, recorded and disposed of safely together with a large number of underground services. The combination of these lead to a large number of unforeseen issues and numerous contract instructions. The clients key aim was the need to maintain full site operation throughout the contract duration.
Keegans were responsible for providing traditional quantity surveying services and our positive and proactive approach ensured that value for money was achieved throughout the project despite these complex unforeseen issues involved.
